Making for the Maire...
We saw a man with a folder looking bemused as he stared at this property on Grande Rue as we passed by the other day. He had come in search of the Maire and noticed the Tricolour as he drove through and assumed this must be it! We pointed him in the right direction after sharing our amusement with him!
During the French elections (yesterday was voting day) some people choose to fly the flag!

Bouchon Barrou
Grande Rue in Barrou sometimes is not quite grande enough as we witnessed yesterday on our way back from our walk.

Sunday stroll...and thinking of sunflowers.
Always like it when some of the fields around us here in Barrou are planted up with sunflowers giving us something to look forward to in July.

Vendredi à vélo - well framed.
Spotted yesterday at the start of our first collective 'short walk' of the year around Le Grand-Pressigny. It was good to be back among our walking friends.

Calm before the storm...
With the warning of the impending 'orage' Pauline decided to cut some of the roses from the garden before they take the inevitable pounding! Good decision I think as it was a stoater! Unfortunately looks as if our Skybox is a casualty!

Reflecting on balmy evenings...
It has been a little too hot (and bright) over the last few days but the evenings come into their own meaning you can sit out and enjoy balmy temperatures well into the night.

A collection of creators...
We popped over to the open house of G'art in Le Grand-Pressigny yesterday afternoon where Mylène and Benjamin showcased their own creations alongside other invited talented people.
So prefer Benjamin's trophy heads to the real ones...they would go well,I think, among the exhibits Chateau du Rivau

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet...
This was the sweetest of all the roses we had the pleasure of catching the scent of at the'Festival de la Rose' at Chateau du Rivau last weekend.

And why not...
Lunch on Saturday at the 'Hotel de la Trielle' in Chinon provided us with a new experience - our starter was 'glace au chèvre de maison',iced goat's cheese on a warm tomato tartlet. I was,I have to admit, a little dubious about it but it turned out to be a rather pleasant surprise especially from someone who is (was) not a fan of goat's cheese other than when it is cooked. After telling the proprietor how tasty it was she replied "mais bien sûr, il a été fait avec amour".

Funny how time slips away...
As Pauline and I sat on the bench at the back of the garden here in Barrou on Sunday evening we were trying to recall what it was like when we first bought the house. First two pics. are from 2011 when we cleared all the weeds and started to lay out our potager. We were recycling even away back then with the topsoil brought over from a project at 'Les Balcons'.
Below are from February 2012 when the barn roof was replaced - yes it does snow here sometimes!
