Church on Sunday...Le Petit Pressigny

The 12th/13th century church of Saint-Pierre in Le Petit Pressigny is well worth a visit if visiting this pretty Southern Touraine village.

Inside is fairly typical design with its nave leading to the choir and semicircular apse

There are two pretty side chapels.

The vaulted barrel ceiling of the nave is a 19th century addition.

Like many churches of this age it has the problem of rising damp affecting its internal appearance but also adding,I think, to its authenticity.

Where's Joan? well this little chirch has two...

...this fine statue (left) competing with the many others on display plus (right) a second smaller Joan with her banner on the altar of one of the side chapels - I like Saint-Pierre's
