Expect the unexpected!

We spotted this elephant (?) as we walked along the high ground of the Voie verte during our walk on Friday. We have driven this road many many times and never noticed it from it, may very well be a new addition to the house owner's gardenalia!

 

Expect the unexpected...when Led Zeppelin meets rural France

We were invited over to a small music soiree at friends last night who have two student 'workawayers' Alex and Eden helping them out for a couple of weeks. Music provided by the very generous '! Don't Know' trio of Cally, Dave and Christian.

The surprise of the evening was this rendition of  Led Zeppelin's 'When the levee breaks' by Alex

             

Expect the unexpected....

We were invited along to a 'neighbour' in the nearby village of Chambon for an aperitif last night and were really taken by his barn conversion.

His house is a delight of distractions from his 'live in' model for his paintings to his brocante purchases 

New home for Easter....

We noticed that the 'Easter Island' statue in Lesigny has a new home...looks rather grand...you could almost be there.

Expect the unexpected...

If our friend Cally had not let us know, we would have missed an afternoon of dancing at nearby La Celle Guenand, They had a 'Scottish afternoon' with a group of dancers, from of all places, Bristol, giving a demonstration of Scottish Country dancing in the square in front of the church. So glad we went one....

...because it gave me an excuse to don the kilt...and two because they were such an nice bunch of people.

They dragged us all (French included) up to dance and we had a great time.Don't have any pics.or video as Pauline and I were up dancing, Though did get this one of Pauline when I managed to sit one out by pretending to be taking photographs - actually getting my breath back.

Although they came from Bristol they did have Scottish connections with certain members of the company originally hailing from Scotland. Willie the piper was a charming character, originally from Dumbarton, a man who has had the honour of being the lone piper on the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle during the 'Military Tatoo'. He also let me have a go at his pipes... pipes that saw service during WWII..awesome! 

Willie is quite a character, he has a masters degree in mechanical engineering, is a judo black belt and plays the pipes! Here is his entrance...

Loved the fact that his second name is 'Gass'...you couldn't make it up!

Expect the unexpected...

Among the Christmassy things going on in Edinburgh at the moment you'll find a floating Jedi Master on the Royal Mile. Though judging by the 'zip-up' it would appear even Yoda's powers can't protect him from the Scottish chill. Too cold even for you, Master, is it?
