Am I really talking 'Tupperware'?

It is the classic orange peeler! 

I wanted another one so as our rental house could have one as we pride ourselves in not being caught out by the absence of an important piece of kit! You can't buy them I was told but they can be a 'gift' when you do buy something. I had to ask nicely to get the current model pictured above - snazzy eh! - as I didn't make a purchase. BTW the Tupperware lady didn't seem to know how to use it, thinking you broke the skin with the thin edge...so this is for her.

Or maybe we should get one of these...

                             

Speaking of Tupperware...

...I took this item which is vintage ( 30 years +) Tupperware along to the party does anyone know what it is used for?

Party..party

With Pauline away in Scotland my neighbour David said he had organised a party which he hoped I would attend...reluctantly I agreed...very reluctantly. Bizarrely it was a 'Tupperware', yes you are reading this correctly a 'Tupperware' party. I have had some surreal times here in France but this is up there with the best. There was David , me ,Mike & Liz, our neighbour Mme.Bastard (yes that's her name) plus her sister who was giving the demonstration and her 'teacher'. They proceeded to make a lovely pear gateau plus cooked rabbit in their steamer. We got to sample the gateau but never got a whiff of the rabbit! As the afternoon wore on we had visits from the demonstrators children plus another lady who may have been the area manager plus plenty of form filling for the little that was purchased - not by me I might add. After four hours David then hosted a BBQ for me, Mike and Liz plus the very charming 'teacher'. The event was really just a way to allow David to charm the lady (plus have tomorrow's meal cooked) and we were happy to be part of it...we left them alone at a decent hour to seal their friendship!!

Chocolate boxes...

Guess who made an appearance at Chatellerault's Festival du Chocolat on Saturday?

Interesting to see them following my recent post on the subject. Perfect for storing the chocolate you don't finish - no use to me then!

Still going strong?...

When we were over at the brocante at Villeperdue  we spotted this company car - Tupperware giving cars to 'party planners'? 

This was a surprise as we had long forgotten about this versatile product - although it has been cropping up at brocantes - you rarely hear about it in the UK now, what  with all the alternatives that have appeared over the years. Apparently it was still available and being promoted up until 2003 when the company decided to close down its operation in the UK.

I can recall the bubbly 'Tupperware Lady' descending on my parents house many years ago and being introduced to this wonderful plastic world of containers and lids. The now iconic cereal container being my personal favourite.You can see someone bestowing its virtues here. I think I also remember my sister being drawn in by the planner to extend the network - they loved this as it always meant a very good sale as the new planner had to buy all their stock. I seem to also recall her later ingenuity as to what they all could be used for! 

The UK were all set for a grand relaunch in 2011 but after recruiting staff the company put the lid (an airtight one obviously) on the idea before the year was up.

                                  

Here is a 'planner', sorry they are now 'consultants' doing her stuff. Apparently a Walrus made an appearance at a recent Tupperware party - looking for a Tight Seal. (Blame 200swilson for this)
I think I would be more interested in going to a Tupperware soirée than a party - then again perhaps not!
