Sunday market, plus...

As well as the normal very good Sunday market at Descartes there is also a brocante - so you can make a day of it! Sadly I'll be working. There are also brocantes at Betz-le-Chateau and Abilly (Jam Festival)

My attempts at re-cycling...

Yesterday was the annual 'Fête de la confiture' at nearby Abilly. As usual there were a number of clashing 'events' here in Southern Touraine so we had choose wisely.

The 'jam festival' includes a 'vide graniers' and this years had the usual suspects along with some interesting items...wanted these but Pauline wasn't having it! There was a couple of bicycles that I nearly got her interested in at 15 euros each though the logistics of getting them home proved to be a deal breaker, even though our friends who had brought us here did offer to make a special return trip - how kind. I also enquired about a couple of smart bicycles I spotted on the way round only to be told that the owners had just cycled here and were hoping to return using them!!!

There was the usual mix of items and stalls, which did include some jam...

with this years street entertainment was provided by a drumming juggling combo...preferred last years.

This years judging panel sitting as ever in their lofty position...with as ever, no one paying any attention to them!

Fête de la confiture...

The nearby village of Abilly has an annual 'Jam Festival' which incorporates a vide-grenier (empty your attic) and a number of other displays. We attended this for the first time last year and liked it enough to return for the 2012 event on Sunday. The weather was a little overcast after the great spell of weather we just had but it was ok for trekking around the stalls and browsing. Pauline tried to stop me from buying anything, as usual but failed - couple of nice little bargains.

These events are always a good place to bump into friends and acquaintances and today was no exception.

I liked the way they had more on the little park on the 'Ile de la Claise' by the mill this year,it is a great spot but could be missed if you stayed on the main street.

This year there seemed to be less jam stalls - or did we miss them?

The Salle de Fetes had its usual display of quality craft work...

and the oh so serious 'Jam Judges' were still on the stage from last year so that was handy!
