First strawberries - last lunch

Invited to join our friends and neighbours Pauline and Denis in Barrou for lunch on Monday. We are working in the garden at the Old Walnut Mill as no guests this week and it was their last lunch before heading back to the UK yesterday. We ate alfresco with part of our contribution being the first strawberries of the season from our garden - yummy!

Strawberries in November !

We had 18 degrees yesterday in the garden at the 'Old Walnut Mill' and it is still trying to produce strawberries - confused or what!

The strawberry patch that keeps on giving...

The strawberry patch at the 'Old Walnut Mill' is producing fruit in abundance again this year and they are delicious!

October strawberries and scant reward.

We got the beautiful day we were promised yesterday so Pauline and I took advantage of the weather and continued a job which she had already made good inroads to - tidying the back garden at the Old Walnut Mill. We were rewarded with a small crop of October strawberries but on looking back I was disappointed to find that previous years had been kinder to us, below is from October 2015.

Last of the summer fruits...

I made a fruit salad last week which included the last (or maybe not) of the strawberries from the garden - not bad since we have been enjoying them all summer. Would have had a lot more but left them too long and fruit flies were having a field day! We also lifted a cucumber to use in a salad yesterday!

Fruits of our labour...

Well not a great deal of labour actually - the strawberries need little or no attention  - they were started of by a single plant from our neighbour two years ago - and the cherries just make their annual appearance come what may!
