Yes, a 'Tomato Festival'

In its 16th year, the 'Festival of the Tomato' returns to Chateau Bourdaisière in Touraine. The publicity says you can discover no less than 650 varieties of tomato – if you really want to. There will also be 50 exhibitors offering all things tomato! You can also visit the grounds of the chteau but not the chateau itself as it is a hotel.

Saturday 13^th  and Sunday 14th, September.

Concombre anyone?...

After being away in Scotland for a week we came back to a glut of them!

...and thankfully a nice crop of tomatoes - especially as we hear many crops locally have been 'blighted'.

The spice of life?...

The varieties of tomatoes in our garden as well as the other prolific veg. has meant Pauline has to be even more inventive in the way these can be used. Last night we had a birthday bash for one of our friends and for a starter she had used the cherry tomatoes to make a coulis to pour over a courgette flan topped with cheese - great!

Hardy variety?...

Despite the very hard winter we have had, last year's tomatoes re-seeded in the garden - even on our gravel path! We have lifted them and transplanted them in the garden as they are obviously a hardy variety.
