A lovely day...full of joys.

It was a joy to be in Edinburgh with family and friends to celebrate the marriage of Michael to Rose yesterday, a day full day of togetherness. Pauline and I don't feature much in my pics as the official photographer had the responsibility of making us look ok and these will follow soon. Here are some I did take.

Rose the beautiful bride and her sister Eve

The pretty flower-girls Ada and Mae who were a delight throughout the day.

This isn't mine but does feature Pauline.
The siblings.

This one was taken by Victoria in 'Vittorio on the bridge' where we had our splendid meal.

Christmas costumery...

A Christmas day that started with pyjama games and had a prehistoric period ended with a bit of glam...all good looks I'd have to say!

Swanning around the coast...

Captured these swans in the sea as we passed on this morning's walk...

and this fellow on the river Ayr.

We also spotted Santa having a pre-Christmas round of golf.

It was pleasure...

In Edinburgh last night to babysit Ada while Rose and Michael had a night out - as ever she was as good as gold and great at bedtime.

A good day out in Glasgow...

We met up with Paul yesterday and spent the day in a very festive Glasgow.

Wednesday is for windows...

Sometimes a little is enough - Christmas dressing in Descartes.

In need of a hothouse...

Our walks here in Ayr are understandably on the cool side so when we walked through the gardens of Belleisle Country Park it was an inspired decision to pay a visit to its beautifully restored conservatory, we were greeted by the warm temperature and Christmas colours.

South on the seafront walk...

For yesterday's seafront walk Eileen took us south in the direction of Greenan Castle on what was a very cold windy morning - fairly cleared the cobwebs away.

Merry Christmas everyone...

We are not sending out cards this year but instead are making a donation to cancer charities. We have used this image as it shows one of the rare occasions when we were in France over the festive period. It was at the 'Old Walnut Mill' where we shared many happy times with dear friends who have continued to offer their kindness and support over the many years of our living in France.

My Sunday bench...gone but not forgotten.

We have taken to walking into town here in Ayr along the seafront which is a lovely way to do it but as you can imagine it can be a wee bit chilly in December. Our path is lined with a row of benches dedicated to loved ones lost which at this time of year are often adorned with wreaths in an expression of the additional loss felt at this time of year.

This bench particularly caught our eye with its French connection and its sad back story - the loss of a partner at 32 years old.

Home from home...

How good is this?, in our very comfortable suite here at Eileen's she added this touch of Touraine to save us becoming homesick, we love it!

Another winter walk...by the river Douglas.

Yesterday morning Norman and Margaret took us a walk along  the banks of the river Douglas which runs directly behind their avenue. It was a lovely,if cold, morning and the perfect prelude to a lovely lunch from Margaret.

It was 50 years ago today...

We are in Scotland for the festive period, this is the telephone box (although then it was an old red one then) outside the 'Pavilion' dance hall in Ayr where we met 50 years ago to the day. Oh and it was here I proposed years later - how romantic, think we were sheltering from the wind!

How lucky are we...

One of the lovely things about staying with Mike and Liz was sitting in their fab new extension and and having our own 'nature watch', we knew we would miss it when we left but are lucky enough at our current stopover with Norman and Margaret to have an equally lovely view!
