A night of music and fireworks...

Last night we had music over at 'Le Lavoir'  in Preuilly-sur-Claise with the ever popular Angie Palmer (and Paul) then headed over to Lesigny to catch the firework display to round off a local fete.

Chateaux fet(e)ish?

On Sunday morning we were encouraged to attend the 'Autumn Colors Market' at Domaine de la Boutelaye in Lesigny where numerous exhibitors and artisans had there products on offer both inside and outside the chateau's barns.

I love seeing inside places that I haven't yet explored and the potential promise a tour here had a big bearing in attracting us along but on chatting to the owners we found that it was not part of todays offerings. Having said that the Châtelain was gracious enough to let me venture through to the back of the barns into the gardens of the chateau for a look at them and the external view of the chateau itself.

\

This is a lovely chateau complex that offers gite accommodation, event hosting and weddings in lovely surroundings.

A wee walk for Sunday...

Yesterday we drove over to the bridge at Lesigny where we parked on our side of the border before walking over to Angela and Dennis' for a cuppa. The clouds cleared as we walked until a finally a rare (of late) blue sky appeared as well as some sunshine.

Looking over the river to Barrou.

Good to see the Lesigny Quinze août brocante returning - always popular.

Oh and you could pick up some garlic!

Another soiree...with 'Dos Gringos'

Went over to the park at the 'beach' at Lesigny last night with friends to catch 'Dos Gringos' who gave us a taste of Reinhardt & Grappelli in their own 'Jazz Manouche' style.

The event was organised by the local restaurant 'l'Ere du Temps' who must have been delighted with the good turnout.

Alternative route...and breadcrumbs

Due to time pressures and a slight reluctance to get motivated yesterday morning we couldn't make the weekly randonnee club walk, so instead we opted for our circular route from here in La Guerche to Barrou via Maire and Lesigny (12km) and back.

Place de l'Eglise Maire

It was an ideal  afternoon for a walk with spring bursting out all around us.

Love how this house on the street has made the most of the available 'garden' space.

Looking towards Lesigny.

Beautiful Wisteria on Rue des Echelles

and Magnolia on Rue du Moulin in Lesigny.

Route de Lesigny,Barrou.

Grande Rue, Barrou

As it happens we did not complete the circuit, as after stopping into the bar for a well deserved refreshment (non alchoholic), we discovered, just as we were leaving the village that Pauline had left her breadcrumbs in the bar (never thought I'd ever say that in a sentence). She had bought them as we passed Claire's shop and they were needed for fishcakes, so reluctantly, we started back along Grande Rue only to be met by friends Angela and Denis who had been visiting mutual friends in the village - their offer of a lift was gratefully received!
