Fête du rond du chêne brocante.

We popped up to the annual brocante at the Rond du Chêne, more for the walk that to seek out any treasure as is our current status.

Was a wee bit underwhelming but we did see what might be considered a blast from the past!

“Fur aboots are ye fae?”

Think this was possibly put in place for the bears.

Brocante et la course de caisses à savons à Preuilly-sur-Claise.

We went over to the annual 'Foire de la Saint-Georges' brocante at Preuilly-sur-Claise on Saturday. Where it normally stretches out through the streets of the town this it was restricted to the south of the river, around the Marie, Place des Halles and Pl. du Champ de Foire down by the 'Le Lavoir'.

We are no longer searching for treasures as we actually need to get rid of 'stuff' but it is still fun looking at what's of offer...we never get boared.

The restrictions on brocante stalls was because much of the main streets were given over to form a course, made up of bales of hay, for the staging of a soapbox race.
There was an interesting array of vehicles taking part.

Love that the course included a ramp and water jump.
The finish line was just before the river crossing, a real fun run!

La Guerche brocante...

Angela captured us at our freshest as we began to sell our 'stuff' on our stand at our local brocante here in La Guerche. We are back home now after setting up at 6.00am and are 'cream crackered' though a good bit better off financially. A very sociable day with friends on the stalls and meeting up with neighbours old and new.

Brussel's big brocante - Flea Market at Place du Jeu-de-Balle.

One of our favourite visits when in Brussels is to the large flea market at Place du Jeu-de-Balle in the Marolles neighbourhood of the city. Our hosts Anne and Denis introduced us to it on our first visit and now it has become one of our go to places in the city.

They have had a lot of success over the years searching for and finding undiscovered treasures. With hundreds of stalls (and piles) to rummage through our local 'treasure' hunters here in Touraine would be in brocante heaven here.

The great local knowledge of Anne and Denis meant that the walk to and from the market along the streets of  Rue Haute and  Rue Blaes was a feast of window shopping as they are full of of antique dealers, fabric shops and second-hand dealers.

Anne and Pauline in anticipation of the treasure hunt.

La Guerche brocante...

On Sunday the village held its annual brocante, so we gathered up loads of  'stuff' and offered it for sale to the treasure hunters, John (his pics) and Maureen tagged on a table as well to add to the mix for the day. On such a very hot day we were pleased to see we had been allocated an excellent spot which offered us shade for most of our time under the sun.

Sunday's brocante and Emma the emu...

So we went over to the brocante at Chambon and came back with an emu, as you do. We have christened her 'Emma' and given her pride of place in the courtyard.

The brocante itself was slightly underwhelming but glad we went.

Sunday's brocante at Paulmy.

We headed over to Paulmy on Sunday with Angela and Dennis with all of us stating "there is nothing we need" but came a way with plants and for us a pot (with plant) as well. It is now installed in our courtyard,it's the one on the left.

What a difference a blue sky makes....

We headed over to Angles-sur-l'Anglin on Sunday to their Easter brocante. It's one of our favourites as it is a pleasure to simply walk the streets and take in the views of this pretty village.

It was a lovely day - so different from last Sunday's event at Azay-le-Ferron!

Sunday's morning brocante and a bit of afternoon art.

On Sunday morning we headed to one of our favourite villages, Chedigny, for their brocante. We did buy a couple of things but were there mainly for the walk which is always a pleasure.

There were seven!

In the afternoon we took up an invitation to view the work of local artist Ed Buziak at his studio in the small hamlet of  Roux just outside Bousay. On show were his many abstract artworks which he has created over the last seven years.Ed studied Interior Design at Manchester College of Art in the 1960s, worked in the TV and film industry for a decade, then turned to editorial photography before settling in France and concentrating on his drawing and painting portfolio.

Loved seeing the tools of his trade which could be an exhibit in itself!
