Quinze août 2026 part I...

As tradition has it, yesterday morning we headed over to the annual brocante at nearby Lesigny. This year it was really just for the walk and the opportunity to meet and chat with friends and neighbours as we really do not need any more 'treasures'.

On the face of it we did not feel we had enough time to linger at this stall.

It is reassuring to see the winter 'furry boots' being discarded as it always reminds us of back home in Scotland *

A weekend of brocanting...

Started off on Saturday at Preuilly-sur-Claise near the plan d'eau.

These seemed awfy deer tae us.

Then Sunday to Palmy around the lake.

On a very hot day an ice cream would have been nice but we were not sure where we could get one.

Then we headed over to Barrou where it is always good to catch up with previous neighbours.

The village had a good display of art in the Salle de Fete as part of the artisanal exhibition.  

Two brocantes, one day.

Yesterday we headed over to the brocant at Chambon and then we went on to the one at St.Remy-sur Creuse both were really just for the walk and a bit of socialising.

Here is what we did not buy in Chambon...

and didn't buy in St Remy-sur-Creuse.

What we did buy in Chambon was this item for the princely sum of 3 euros which now hangs behind the door in our courtyard.

 

First brocante and happy to be mixing!

Yesterday we headed over to the brocante at Coussay-les-Bois, not in search of any treasure but simply to get out again mixing with other people as we seem to have at last got rid of the virus that has curtailed us for the last four weeks.

In the small Eglise Saint-Martin there was an exhibition of bird 'photographs' that looked more like paintings - excellent works!  

A weekend of brocantes...

This weekend was a  busy one for brocantes here in Southern Touraine. On Saturday we chose to visit the one near the lac at Preuilly-sur-Claise...treating it only as a social occasion and a walk as we really do not need to add to our own 'stuff'.

Often wonder if these dislays are an indication of an overindulged child?

On Sunday we walked over to Barrou (and back 8.5km) to check out their annual brocante and to meet up with old friends and neighbours...and we did, always good!

No basil, on the face of it!

Our weekend visits to brocantes proved surprisingly fruitless for Pauline as she was in search of well established basil plants...the nearest she got was some time at La Roche-Posay and at Preuilly-sur-Claise.

We enjoyed our walk around the brocante in Le Grand-Pressigny yesterday. It is always an excellent opportunity to catch up with friends and neighbours.

We then headed over to the Hippodrome in La Roche-Posay, which was a bigger occasion with much of what is now familiar at these events on display. Oh and we had been at Preuilly-sur-Claise on Saturday

Is this a sign that these kids were overindulged?

Is this a sign that the cold weather is finally over?

What is the fascination with empty oil cans?

This got a no from me...

Sunday's brocantes...

We ventured out on Sunday with Mike and Liz to visit the local brocantes, first to Saint-Rémy-sur-Creuse where Batman was visiting along with the owners of this fine machine.

Then on to a very quiet Chambon...

before taking in the much bigger affair at the Hippodrome at La Roche Posay.

 

Sunday's brocante & fête de l'andouillette - Yzeures-sur-Creuse

 

We dragged Eileen along to the brocante & fête de l'andouillette in Yzeures-sur-Creuse yesterday...

...there was little appetite for the French delicacy. 

Love seeing these furry boots as always reminds us of the 'Doric' for "where are you from?"

We made a few purchases including these silk embroidered hangings to fit in with the oriental theme of the new bedroom.
