Lost in the kids labyrinth...

Labyrinth in Foret de Preuilly - sign showing plants to search out
Our second attempt at a walk in the woods yesterday took us over to a very quiet Foret de Preuilly. We decided against the marked walk as the last time we did it we got slightly lost and as neither us us are firing on all cylinders at the moment it did not seem like a good idea,
Instead we choose a ramble through the labyrinth paths which are designed to get kids involved in searching out plants and getting up close to nature,
The heavy leaf drop made the paths a wee bit difficult to identify at times which ultimately lead us off them and having to navigate brambles and young branches to get back on track.
Where I was sure we would find our way out again Pauline was thinking differently but my natural sense of direction (?) led us back to safety.
To extend our walk a little we took a walk around the lake (etang de la Ribaloche) before returning to our car.

Monday's walk at Etableau.

We had a lovely walk on Monday at Etableau where we were lucky enough to have a afternoon of fine weather for the time of year. It gave us some excellent views of the chateau there plus its neighbour at Le Grand-Pressigny, sometimes both at once.

In search of a new route and shocking behavior...

Over the last couple of days Pauline and I have been trying to find a new 5km walk locally that we can do as we have offered to lead a walk on Monday. On Friday we set off on a longer walk up towards the Le Rond du Chêne with a view to going off piste and using a path that would link to one of our shorter routes. The plan seemed to be working as an unfamiliar path brought us out to a spot we recognized - the only problem was a new electric fence blocked our way and Pauline refused to touch it to check if it was live...shocking!

This meant we had to walk back the way we came and made us end up doing over 7km in total!

Yesterday we decided to return to a well worn path on the other side of the valley but adding in a part that Fabrice had introduced us to but doing it in reverse!

Big mistake!, the climb was very long and not a great start for a walk so we will leave it to the end as before.

We were compensated a little however by the colours of autumn.

Sortie orchidées à Mairé...

On Saturday Pauline and I joined Angela to join others in search of wild orchids along the local roads in Maire. Not such a difficult task as they are many. We were educated by experts on the subject, much like Susan, who were happy to share their knowledge.

Vying for attention by sticking their necks out!

These locals tried to attract my attention on a short walk around the village yesterday.
