Re-opening of the Priory Saint-Cosme
If you haven't already visited the Priory Saint-Cosme at La Riche, to the west of Tours then this year may be the time to do it as after more than a year's work the new gardens and a new itinerary for visitors were unveiled to the public back in February. The work included the restoration of walls, updating the pathways and an array of new plants for the contemporary gardens which seek to capture the essence of the poet Ronsard in what was his former residence. About Paris...
Check out my Paris website http://www.about-paris.com/ . Still working on it but getting there.(i think!) If
you have a blog or website and would provide a link I would be most grateful. Does Paris need another website? probably not but I have tried to approach it from a 'practical help' point of view and it keeps me out of mischief!. From here in the Loire Valley the city is easily accessible (can be as cheap as €15.00 one-way on TGV) plus with family there it has become my second favourite part of France after the Loire Valley.
If you great photo takers out there would let me use some of your Paris snaps that too would please me greatly.

Church on Sunday - as you sow...
We went over to Chinon to visit their monthly (3rd Sunday) brocante and as we were heading back to the car we saw the above sign.
Intrigued, we went for a look...and found the chapel which had been converted into a haberdashery shop for the day. Some people would have loved this but it held little fascination for me. The chapel is now used for exhibitions and is home to the school for visual arts.
Its original use was of more interest;

Getting out and about...
After a week of avoiding contact with others (so as to keep our germs to ourselves), yesterday we ventured out to, first the market at descartes and then on to our first brocante of the season at Sepmes.
Couldn't resist snapping this machine parked near us...very smart!
Then it was on to check out the hundreds of stalls on display.
Where you had a choice of bicycles.
There was the usual collection of galvanized buckets plus some items whose application wasn't immediately obvious...
although this one seemed obvious enough, though I had to take a peek.
and sure enough it was what I thought it was but bizarrely it was actually 'piped-in' via a hose from the house behind - not sure if this was for demonstration purposes or purely for convenience.
