Sunday's brocantes...

Went over to the Marché du chineur at Loches yesterday but didn't find any bargains...

although we did have a good stroll around the streets of our favourite Loire valley town.

We arrived around lunchtime so it was fairly quiet with not a lot of action...certainly not from this lot...

 Sadly no-one wanted this fellow

but I wanted this...

Didn't find the time to rummage here...

before heading back home via Ligueil and another brocante.

If Loches felt quiet it was almost sleepy here

Don't know how we resisted this crucifix made from clothes pegs but we did!

Now we did get a bargain here a five candle brass candelabra (like the one below +candles) for €1.00...didn't haggle!

We are family...

Happy to report that  all that sitting around has been fertile, we are with child...well actually three of them and they are blackbirds not thrushes. Saw the father who has been conspicuous by his absence for the first time yesterday helping to feed them.

Now all we have to do is protect them from the great hunter next door

Full day...

And they're off...

As it was a lovely day yesterday we popped over to the brocante the La Roche Posay racecourse

Managed to resist buying anything...even this fellow.

We were propelled towards  this unusual nautical table but again resisted.

If you haven't tried 'a day at the races' then you should...at least once as it is a good day out...it's small but perfectly formed. Below are this season's meeting dates.

Back home for lunch then off to our second brocante of the day at Antoigné which is a village that appears to have been gobbled up by Châtellerault and lost its identity...we would never really knew the place other than seeing a sign off the D21.

It was big with hundred of stalls...

but again managed to resist what they had on offer, though these boots seemed to have an attraction.

Then it was over to help Colin celebrate a birthday milestone at Braye sous Faye where we had good company and the usual splendid hospitality from Elizabeth into the early evening..

We love the roses in our courtyard here in Barrou.

May be extra holidays...

The month of May is 'public holiday month' here in France so this means you also get brocantes midweek, like this one on Thursday at Ferrière-Larçon . After 3 glorious day in the mid 20's rain was forecast for the afternoon and this meant a number of exhibitors failed to take up their 'pitch'.Here are some things you could have bought...

a modern commode...not quite ready for this...

another calculator...

 a straw donkey...

or an udder abandoned soft toy.

Although a sleepy little village its worth a walk around yet although we have done a number of times I didn't know it had this park/garden to the north of the village!

Sitting tight...

This bird (Thrush?) has chosen to nest in our roses in spite of the fact that currently it is the busiest part of the garden but she doesn't seem to mind. The other thing I've noticed is that she doesn't seem to have a partner and has to leave the nest to feed, which is a bit of a shame.

Chemtrails...conspiracy or wot?

Didn't even know there was one...until my son Paul mentioned it. You can read more here.

These 'contrails' were taken over a busy sky over Barrou yesterday morning.

Mother goose...

Popped into Descartes' Bar la Saulaie on the banks of the Creuse on Sunday...could have been a bit of a pantomime getting back to car as mother goose very protective of her goslings!
