First festival...

For those of you who are interested Dominique and I kick-off the 'Barroudeurs' as 'Old Hat' with a short set on the wee stage from 8.00pm on Saturday night. Or should that be 'Old Hats' or 'Hold Hats' - what's in a name anyway?

No need for concern, we appear to be coping...

We are heading out tonight to celebrate a couple of good friends birthdays making it the eighth consecutive day of socialising here in Southern Touraine as there is so much on - it's a tough life!

PS Thanks to Gail for above pic. from last Saturday's musical picnic.

Nearly there!

The work on the front of our house is all but complete, with only the surround of the former shopfront to be replaced - very happy with outcome.

Hot hot hot...

On Sunday we had David and Karen over for lunch and a game of cards -  a tradition that goes back almost twenty years of friendship. We had set up for lunch on our usual outside dining table but on one of the warmest days so far this year our brolly proved inadequate for keeping us comfortably cool. So we had to revert to plan B and use our smaller table in a more sheltered area of the courtyard. For our card game we moved inside!

Musical Picnic...

Yesterday's musical picnic at Chaumussay was a great success thanks to the organisers and the performers we can be safe in the knowledge that Southern Touraine's musical legacy is in safe hands!

Our granddaughter Ada 'graduated' from nursery today with her proud mum and dad there to witness it, even down to the cap throwing!

Last week's walks...Monday

We headed over to La Chapelle-Blanche-Saint-Martin for last Monday's walk. It took us into the countryside and around the Château de Grillemont.

Last week's walks...Sunday

On Sunday we joined neighbours here in La Guerche along with visitors from Descartes walking club for a 9.5k walk up in the countryside behind 'Le Maupas'. There is a challenging climb to start but it is well worth it for the views back to the village and along the Creuse valley.

We eventually reached the welcome shade of the forest, where at the halfway stage of the walk, we had a sandwich and refreshment to set us up for the second half.

Have to say it was good to see the village again and as we arrived we were greeted by an apero in front of the Mairie.
