Behind the mask...

Never thought I'd see this - nice little touch at the morning market in Le Grand-Pressigny yesterday with with a performance from the mini choir from behind their masks...surreal but appreciated.

Spent yesterday morning helping erect the stalls for the Christmas market in Le Grand-Pressigny then joined our Christmas choir for some performances ...glad to be part of it...good fun!

Had the first rehearsal with our Christmas choir on Tuesday - twas as if we had never been away - good fun! Good to see that we are getting some additional male voices joining us - the more the merrier. 

Strength in numbers...

A group of us went over to Preuilly-sur-Claise to support friends performing with the Preuilly-sur-Claise choir in the beautiful abbey church. 

On the night they were joined by a somewhat depleted choir from Azay-sur-Cher (below)

The Preuilly-sur-Claise choir gave us a good variety of songs including compositions from Jacques Brel,Serge Gainsbourgh as well as a negro spiritual standard.

I thought the best performance of the night (apart form David's solo contribution) was when the choirs got together and filled the church a little more with the strength of numbers. Talking of numbers was somewhat surprised by the small number of local people who had turned out for this delightful, free performance.

The church takes on a beautiful glow under its evening spotlight.

Two for the price of one...

...and even then it was free. 

We went along to 'Chant Choral' on Saturday evening in the church at La Roche Posay. The evening consisted of performances (12 songs + encore) from the local 'Le Choeur des 3 Riviéres' and 'La Chorale Lorelei' from Nozay Loire Atlantique. At just over two hours it was just a little too long on slightly uncomfortable modern version of pews. We have since found out that these seats are actually electrically  heated during the winter months - who'd have thought!
