More from our Irish trip...a stop in Kilkeel.

On the way to Belfast for the last stay of our Irish trip we stopped in at Kilkeel a small town on the coast of County Down. Its harbour is home to the largest fishing fleet in Northern Ireland.

The town is where my gran's (Turnbull) birth was registered and has connections to the McComish side of our family.

My first ballet...Le Lac des cygnes.

What can I say, music was great, sets were great, dancing was great. Glad Pauline dragged me along to the Palais des Congress (Vinci) in Tours last night as she did not want to miss it!

A walk to Warrenpoint and back...

When visiting Rostrevor we did the  lovely walk along the coast to Warrenpoint and back (8kms). We passed some lovely housing stock on the way.
We had a great lunch at 'The'Posh Pig' which is on the harbour front in town. We of course had to try their Guinness which was up to scratch.
They like their murals here, this is on the wall of the old Osbourne / Carlingford Bay Hotel
It was a lovely sunny day but with a chilly wind, thus the 'Scottish' coats!
But not too cold for some of the locals to have a swim apparently!
Looking back towards Rostrevor and the Mountains of Mourne.

Rostrevor....Fairy Glen walk and Narnia trail at Kilbroney Park.

While in Rostrevor we took advantage of our spell of pleasant weather to do as much walking as possible with a walk along the coast to Warrenpoint (more on that later) plus the local walks around and in Kilbroney Park. The first walk was along 'Fairy Glen' just before you enter the park itself. A pleasant enough walk (but no fairies). first alongside the river then through field and forest before bringing you back into the park itself.

View from the park's cafe back towards the town itself.

The 'Narnia' trail starts and finishes within the park and is intended to bring to life the 'Chronicles of Narnia' for children visiting the park. It pays homage to the magical stories created within Cs Lewis’s imagination.  The trail is entered, like the magical world of Narnia itself, through a ‘Wardrobe Door’, beyond which lies references to the Magical Land and it’s wonderful characters.

After finishing the trail we headed back down through the park and back up to town.
