Our recent little project was an attempt to make our salon here at the Old Walnut Mill a little cosier and perhaps extend the length of our rental season. As it originally was open to the kitchen any heating would dissipate through there and up the open staircase to the first floor. The size of the salon was such that losing some space at the end of the room to make a new corridor was not a problem.
The first job was to move the laundry room door so that it would now be in the corridor as opposed to coming off the salon.
Then the new dividing wall was formed.
The corridor also gave us another large storage cupboard.
It was also an opportunity to replace the old wood cladding and get some rewiring done
The first image shows (or in this case doesn't) the only thing missing - our door!. We are using a door we found over at the La Guerche project. It has some shaped glass panels in it so we gave it to a local craftsman before Christmas to glaze it for us..he still has it and with the current 'lockdown' who knows when we are going to see it! At least the warmer weather is coming!
