Trains, planes and automobiles...

Oh, bus and tram too - after Dennis and Angela were kind enough to drop us at Chatellerault we took a train to Poitier changed trains for Bordeaux, bus to the airport (albeit the wrong one - slow, rather than express) plane to Edinburgh, then tram from airport to near Michael and Rose. We walked from the tram to theirs but felt we should maybe have been on a bicycle as seemed like the only form of transport we had not used!

The journey itself proved straightforward, Pauline had everything well planned, with paperwork in order but the only place a ticket was  checked was before we boarded the plane! Worse than that the only place our 'pass sanitaire' was requested was in the restaurant at the airport! For two people who have kept our 'circle' to probably no one under 60 during the pandemic this was a little unnerving but the one reassuring thing was that all through the trip everyone was masked up. It was all worth it to be met by Ada with her 'welcome poster' that she had made for us.

Perfect end to a long day was taking over her bath-time routine before reading her a bedtime story. She is still so good at going to bed, even with the excitement of seeing Gran and Papa. Then we joined Michael and Rose in a wee drink to end a very busy day.
