Top on our list of things to do on our recent return to Menton was to do the coastal walk from there to Monte-Carlo,someting we failed to do on our last visit.
It is actually straightforward enough, simply follow the coastal path ,leaving Menton behind you. The early part of the path is well made and easily walkable.
As we came around the bend to Roquebrune-Cap-Martin we passed the coastal terrace of 'Villa Cypris' which had been a great attraction for the rich and famous over the years.
Roquebrune-Cap-Martin had a lot to do with our previous failed attempt at this walk as I decided to take in this hill top village as it had a connection to friends in Barrou. The steep climb was wort it as the village was lovely with great views down to Monaco
The view looking up to the chateau which made for an interesting visit on the last trip.
Where it all went wrong was my insistence that there would surely be a road down from the high ground to the coast, if there was we couldn't find it but instead ended up trekking up and down little 'chemins' and walking on dangerous windy roads with no pavements. We were busted!
By comparison this time was a doddle although after the Roquebrune-Cap-Martin stretch it did become more of a chore with a lot of up and down steps.
Some of which are in serious need of attention!
Great set of pics
