The "four banal"

One of the interesting features of the 'Octobre Rose' walks on Saturday was the firing up and baking at the 'four banal' which was the communal oven used during the Middle Ages. It allowed local inhabitants to bake their bread by paying a tax to the lord, who owned the oven.

The result was a tasty small bread roll for the walkers.
