A full day out..4, alternative route in search of San Pedro

Our fourth visit on Sunday was back to Las Negras the scene of our epic climb. Truth be told I had left Rodalquilar intending to find its nearest beach but took a wrong turn! We then saw the sign for Las Negras and recalled that we not explored its beachfront on our last visit and that there was an alternative trek to the elusive San Pedro.

We walked along the beach in search of the other route. It soon became evident that there was not a large part of it on the coastline and the deeper we went into the hillside came the realisation that what was ahead of us was a climb similar to our first attempt. Pauline was also a bit uncomfortable about us again putting ourselves in a remote place with no one really aware of where we were.

So it was back along the beach to civilisation.

The sun was going down in Almeria as we arrived and we had the romantic idea of having a glass of wine at one of the bars to watch the sun setting. As it happens Sunday evening is not the time to do it as they were closed but we did catch the sunset!

A full day out...2, a distraction on high!

As we climbed the hill away from the village of La Isleta del Moro on Sunday we spotted a viewpoint up on the rock ahead and decided to explore, it sits on the site of an old civil guard watchtower. From there  you can get a bird's eye view part of the  Cabo de Gata mountain range, reaching out into the sea and in the distance, 'Pico de los Frailes', the highest mountain of the park at 500 metres high.

Wee bit of a climb to get there but then we are now well used to that in this part of the country.
