Ending a relationship...

Yesterday we welcomed the last guests of the season to 'Le Bourg' in Barrou and our last guests as hosts of this delightful property. When they leave Miki the owner is putting in on the market. We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience of managing the property and gardens for her and meeting so many lovely people from around the globe...many who have now become friends.

The house consists of the barn conversion and 'little house' to the front, if you know of any interested parties please get in touch.

Working up a sweat...

There are many ways for working up a sweat but preparing a house and garden for guests in 26 degrees isn't to be recommended. On a positive note our new lovely guests at Le Bourg arrived bang on time! 

Shopping local...

We were all happy to see the florist reopen in Le Grand-Pressigny at the end of March as it is important for the village and community life. Made a visit yesterday to buy flowers to welcome our first guests of the season at 'Le Bourg'

Little signs...and big bags

Little signs that spring is on its way at 'Le Bourg' where we are working at the moment...

but with the rise in temperature comes the work and first déchetterie run!

They said they'd be back - 'sisters' returning to the Loire Valley

Our lovely American sisters have again (5th time) chosen to spend part of next year's European holiday with us here in Barrou at 'Le Bourg' and we are looking forward to seeing them again! 

"We love being here - our second home. Jim & Pauline are wonderful - so kind and attentive....we have been here four times and plan to be here again next April. We love 'Le Bourg', Barrou and especially Jim & Pauline. There is always something new to do here!"

As we have said before they are too generous with their praise of their hosts, we are just flattered that they choose to return time and time again.

Would be good if we could have the fall without the fall!

Working at tidying the garden at 'Le Bourg' at the weekend...a lot of leaves!

First light...

We welcomed new guests from Toronto to 'Le Bourg' on Sunday on a day that had the weather playing some odd tricks...rain then sunshine then torrential rain then sunshine again! At one stage it was so gloomy that we decided to light the wood burner to bring a feeling of warmth into the house.

However as we awaited their arrival it picked up again with the light changing things for the better!
