A study in window views...

 

This is the view from the study window of our house for sale in La Guerche in Southern Touraine.

We currently use it as a music room but with its great natural light it would be ideal as an artist's studio.

Last show?

 

It's that time of year and the acer in our courtyard has lost its leaves. The image above was captured a coupe of weeks ago. It may be the last show we get as the house is up for sale at the moment.

End of an era...

We said goodbye to Miki, the Canadian owner of 'Le Bourg' yesterday for what may have been her last stay at the house as it is currently up for sale. We were reminiscing about how we met all those years ago (10) and how it has worked out well for us all, with us managing to establish the house as a popular holiday rental with people coming from all around the world and Miki having the house and garden maintained/modified, plus getting a healthy contribution towards its upkeep. It has been fun, even when the work was hard and we have had the pleasure of meeting so many lovely people and made many new friends.

Wisteria hysteria

In all the years (22) that Miki has owned 'Le Bourg' the wisteria in the courtyard has never flowered. As this was perhaps the last opportunity for her to see it ( this great house is for sale) we thought we'd surprise her by bringing some flowers from a plant in the garden of friends in the street, to let her see what she had been missing!!

Ending a relationship...

Yesterday we welcomed the last guests of the season to 'Le Bourg' in Barrou and our last guests as hosts of this delightful property. When they leave Miki the owner is putting in on the market. We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience of managing the property and gardens for her and meeting so many lovely people from around the globe...many who have now become friends.

The house consists of the barn conversion and 'little house' to the front, if you know of any interested parties please get in touch.

On a roll at Sunday's brocante...

Well four actually, picked up 4 rolls of this traditional pattern for the princely sum of €4 at Chaumussay. Will some time in the future reappear as a feature wall in one of the bedrooms in 'the project', Were going to head over to Cussay but got the better offer to join friends for lunch at nearby 'La Grange' - glad we did.

Footnote: 

Sadly, Dave,the owner of 'La Grange', is putting it on the market and returning to the UK. It is a delightful prospect as it has two properties and has been run as a gite business. So for a young (or not so young) couple seeking to find a new life here in France it could be ideal.
