Yesterday's walk in Descartes.

Pauline had an appointment at the hairdressers in Descartes yesterday and as it was a fine morning we took ourselves down to the river for a walk along the banks and through the gardens. Then onto the Voie verte,managing a good 5.5km in all.

Worth the walk...

On Monday Chris & Gail gathered a group of us together for a short walk around the chateau over in Le Grand-Pressigny followed by an impressive spread for us to enjoy over lunchtime in their pretty courtyard(s).

 We had perfect conditions and high temperatures which justified the 'short' option.

 

A walk in the grounds of Chateau d'Azay-le-Ferron

Mike and Liz joined us for a short walk on Saturday around the grounds of Chateau d'Azay-le-Ferron which are currently enhanced with an exposition of animal metal sculptures by Jérôme Garreau.

The walk should have been a bit longer than it was, normally including a walk around the perimeter wall but due to storm damage this had been cut short - it would have been good to have been told this before we set out as we did a bit of head scratching and map turning trying to find our way around the 'marked' route - I know, I do not have a great track record here but...anyway did not detract too much from a pleasant afternoon.

Thursday's short walk - from Etableau

 

Perfect day for our 'short walk' on Thursday, we set off with the castle ruins at Etableau as our backdrop.

It had the right mix of light and shade.

Always like it when some of the fields around us here in Barrou are planted up with sunflowers giving us something to look forward to in July.
