Les Wiggins de 'Les Iles'

When checking out the great Saturday market on our recent visit to Sarlat Angela came across these books about a young French relation and we had to get a pic in the bar named after their home back in Maire.

Windows from our sojourn in Sarlat...well it is Wednesday!

Included this one below as it was the perfect window onto the courtyard of 'La Lanterne' our accommodation for the trip - it was in fact Angela and Dennis' room, we only borrowed it for the photo shoot!

For our sojourn in Sarlat...

Pauline chose the accommodation for our short stay in Sarlat and it proved to be a very good decision. 'La Lanterne' is a chambre-d'hote minutes from the centre of town yet as peaceful as a country retreat. We had the 'Tapestry' room which was very comfortable. We chose to pay the extra 9 euro to have the continental breakfast which we took each morning in the lovely courtyard.

It had been a while...

Waking up to burst water mains and water being turned off in front of the house last Friday turned out to be of little concern to us as we had already packed for our first holiday since February 2019.

Some peeps may say we are on a permanent holiday here and they can be forgiven for thinking this but all the same it was a delight to accompany friends Angela and Dennis on our own first visit to the beautiful Dordogne region, they were making a nostalgic trip back after 30 years!

We based ourselves in the pretty medieval town of Sarlat-la-Canéda and will share some of our adventures over the coming week.
