Joined by friends for Sunday lunch under a clear blue sky and a bulging climbing rose here in the courtyard of our house in La Guerche.

In the cool corner...

Had friends for Sunday lunch yesterday and because of the high temperatures had to retreat into the cool corner of the courtyard, there are worse places we could have been!

A weekend of avoiding the rain and new recipes.

Yesterday's Sunday lunch was meant to be alfresco but the rain put paid to that, so it was a little bit a a squeeze to get us indoors but we managed it.

Pauline's starter of tomato tarte tatin turned out (or should that be over?) lovely and was accompanied by her first attempt at goats cheese ice cream - was yummy!

Sometimes plans don't quite work out...

Sunday lunch always had a risk attached as catering for too many to seat inside meant we were weather reliant, which on the 1st of August should not really have been a problem. Unfortunately Meteo's potential light shower past over with little damage only to be followed by a drenching cloud burst which required some clothes changes!!

Guests bravely continued but we were eventually forced to cram inside for dessert and coffee. Bizarrely we were informed later that over the hill in Le Grand-Pressigny (7km) had seen no rain with some of our guests having to go out and water the garden!

Have to say it isn't the first time we have had to resort to a little shelter while dining.

Sunday lunching and keeping the faith...

Set up the table for lunch yesterday morning  under our 'sail' while the rain was falling, trusting that Meteo had got it right and that the afternoon would be fine...and it came to pass!

Sunday lunch, a treat and an education!

We enjoyed a great Sunday lunch over at a friend's just outside Preuilly-sur-Claise yesterday and also found out, among other things, that a fiddle and violin are exactly the same, who knew? (Pauline actually)!
