Weekend's brocante...

Yesterday,due to the weather forecast, we decided to pick the closest one to us here in Barrou rather than what might reveal the greatest treasure - that meant heading over to a rather overcast Coussay-les-Bois.

We managed to get round the not-so-many stalls before the rain came on forcing the participants to bring out the polythene sheets. I bought another small original oil-on-canvas (€2) and was tempted by this quirky little table - but Pauline was not having it!

It actually cleared up enough for us to head into the market at Descartes - for some supplies - where it hadn't been raining at all and then rushed back as we were invited into our neihbours for our first BBQ of the year.

The rain eventually reached Barrou but we didn't let it spoil our afternoon.

Rooftop terrace...

Since completing his new terrace our neighbour David has had a few 'launch nights'.Last one included a barbecue but space is now at a premium with his table and seating now in place. The three cars in the drive don't help!...

but David is very resourceful, so he used what space he had  and added a roof terrace.

Footnote: H&S...yes, he's wearing flip-flops!

When we were over at friends Mike & Liz for a barbecue last week Mike brought out his 'Weber' chimney starter  - first time I'd seen it but what a good idea! The basic principle of the barbecue chimney is pretty simple: You put some coal into the tube with a grid and ventilation holes near the bottom and light a fire underneath.The smoke stack effect will take care of rest.No need for Firelighters, gel or even fanning -great idea!
