Monday's walk...in pictures

For last Monday's walk Fabrice led us out of Le Grand-Pressigny over the bridges on the road to Barrou and up into the countryside behind Courvoux.

Always good to get the hill out of the way early!

Also good to get a water break under some shade.

This is how draw it has been here in Touraine.

Much as we enjoy these walks it is always good to spot your finishing point.

Thursday's 'taken in Touraine' - poppy time!

Its that time of year when it is a joy to drive around the countryside of Touraine as you come across poppies to brighten up your day.

With more than a touch of sadness...

On Sunday we took up Susan's invitation to join in a picnic organised jointly by Claise ConneXion and AARST, the local association for supporting Ukrainian refugees. It was an opportunity to meet some of the families directly affected by the war in Ukraine. I say families but of course there were no male members as they have stayed behind to protect their country. It was sad to listen to one young woman's personal experiences and it brought home the futility of this 'war'.

There were some lighter moments with people bringing a dish from their own country in a show of solidarity...and they were yummy!

That's where the music takes me...

Was invited to join some friends for a good night in good company with some fine musicians down in Poitiers on Wednesday night, oh and I was allowed a song or two which I appreciated.

Took these shots of the city as we headed back to the car.

A full day...calm before the storm!

Yesterday we walked around our first brocante in a very long time in the nearby village of Chambon, though nothing tempted us...

well almost nothing !

We then joined friends Dennis and Angela for an after lunch coffee at a neighbour here in La Guerche, then it was over to listen to the 'concert' given by another of our neighbours over in Lesigny.

Then aperos in D&A's great courtyard before heading home to await the anticipated 'orage'.

It was captured well over in Le Grand Pressigny by our friend Alison.

Reaping the rewards...

We had a very good last night at the 'Fête Celtique' in Le Grand Pressigny which was due to the hard work of the peeps at 'Phoenix en Claise', the musicians and the dance 'callers' - winning a bottle of champagne also helped!

There was also a fabulous selection of delights to enjoy at the end of the evening, donated by local bakers
