Talent in Touraine...

One of the things that we have come to realise here in Touraine is how much talent exists within our communities, be it in music, any of the creative arts and crafts or construction, we are graced with so much skill.

One small example of this is our little 'nursing chair' which after a makeover by Linda at 'Interior Affairs' in Yzeures-sur-Creuse is looking great!

Yesterday's walk...

With yesterday's weather being a bit unpredictable we decided on a short walk around the village which we always enjoy.

Deer deer - ambushed!

On what turned out to be a lovely afternoon on Tuesday we took our now very familiar route up the winding road behind La Petit Guerche - it never seems to get any shorter - up to the high ground above.

You can see from my shadow just how sunny it was!

On our way back down we were ambushed by 5 young stags who leapt out of a high bank on our left only feet in front of us - quite the sight!
I managed to regain my composure enough to get this pic of them scurrying away.
We caught sight of them again as they crossed the open field below us.

Back to La Guerche.

Monday's walk - around Mairé.

Setting off with David our walk leader and others while setting their walking apps before heading up into the countryside behind Mairé.

This house on the walk always has a fine display of geraniums all the year round but then they are artificial!

The walk threw up a few issues with crossing a couple of little streams where the bridges were a bit the worse for wear but we all managed over safely.

Spotted in the woods, this would probably be an art installation in some other location!

Distrackted !!

Yesterday we decided visit the Sunday market at Descartes and then headed over the river for a walk at Buxeuil. We started by the bridge and followed one of the marked walks

We were caught out by marks on this stairway, above, that we had not noticed before and decided to climb them, taking us away from the river bank along a walled path that we didn't know existed. The end took us out into suburbia and a lack of markings to follow but undeterred we continued to walk parallel to the river to take us over towards 'Le Bourg' and its pretty church.

From there we headed up into the countryside and returned via the old Roman road back to the town.

Last walk of January... in Descartes

We had to go into Descartes on business yesterday and afterwards we took advantage of what was a lovely afternoon by taking a walk around the René Boylesve Public Gardens where there were some new arrival in their little 'animalerie'
