As a welcome break from driving friends Mike and Liz were kind enough to host us for a second night here in Pirbright. Yesterday we went on a good walk around Brookwood cemetery and along part of the Basingstoke Canal with the winter backdrop giving it a different perspective - very pretty.

Our Christmas treat...an afternoon and evening in Tours.
Pauline and I headed up to Tours yesterday afternoon for a bit of shopping, to check out the Christmas lights and to find a new dining experience. It was good to return to old habits that had been put on hold since 2019.
The Christmas dressing was up to the usual high standard.
We had an apéro in in favourite bar in Place Plumereau before finding a restaurant for dinner.
We chose the beautifully dressed Le Laurenty on rue Colbert.
It proved to be an excellent choice!

Finished putting our courtyard and sitooterie to bed for the winter and already looking forward to next spring to bringing everything back out in the spring.
It's come a long way...

A walk to the other side...
We had a change of plan yesterday when rather than do the walk we had been doing recently we decided to get out our passports and venture over the bridge into 'La Vienne' and up the hill into the woods.
We choose the well trodden route to begin with before going off-piste and stumbling our way to new views over the Creuse Valley and then La Guerche itself.

The ups and downs of walking around La Guerche
The last couple of Monday afternoon walks have been cancelled due to poor weather conditions but Pauline and I have been able to take advantage of reasonable mornings to climb the country chemins to the north of the D750 and back.
