Wisteria hysteria...

In all the years (22) that Miki had owned 'Le Bourg' the wisteria in the courtyard had never flowered. On her last visit prior to selling in 2019 we took what was perhaps the last opportunity for her to see it, to surprise her, by bringing some flowers from a plant in the garden of friends in the street, to let her see what she had been missing! Well guess what? as we were passing yesterday on our walk we noticed that it had actually flowered, all be in not prolifically but flowers just the same. Perhaps since the neighbour cut down some large trees it has allowed more light to get at it!

Cropped colour contrast...

Snapped these two fields between Barrou and Chambon

Country carpark?

In an attempt to vary our daily walk around Barrou we have explored a few 'chemins' off the normal beaten track, which I have to admit have so far been dead-ends!, One such path lead us to discover these two cars 'parked' in the woods within 100mtrs of each other - why would you do that?

Wednesday for windows, open but sadly, doors closed.

These are the side windows at the 'Auberge du Vieux Port' in Maire,a village the other side of the river Creuse next to Lesigny. We have enjoyed many a good lunch here with family and friends in what was a fairly unique ambiance due to our lovely hosts. Sadly they have decided to close as a restaurant with, I think, only the bar remaining open - it will be missed!

Motivation and an iceberg stone...

The photo above is from Friday as I struggled with the removal of tree roots and a huge stone that proved to be as big underground as it was above! How it got there we will probably never know but it was still too heavy to lift after I split it into pieces!
Have to admit there was a couple of times I almost gave up the ghost but as we were expecting friends in for a cuppa the next day I found the motivation to finish the job. So yesterday was a visit to the dump followed by a visit to the doc for our first jab before going back to tidy up for our visitors, another full day!

Missing your 'maison secondaire'...

Hopefully turned a corner last night - did not light the fire and sat out until after dark so Pauline could appreciate her fairy lights. We are having a lovely spell of hot sunny days and as we sat in our courtyard our thoughts went out to all of you who must be missing your holiday homes so much. The images here are of Mike & Pat's blossoms on Grande Rue to at least get a small appreciation of the season.

Vendredi à vélo - ditched?

We once spotted this bicycle in a ditch when out for a walk locally and our first thought was that it had been 'ditched' but no,its elderly owner was soon spotted foraging in a field nearby.

More pushing of the boundaries...the Touraine triangle

This week for our daily exercise we managed to take in walks around the three villages within our 10km limit, with walks up behind La Guerche, Le Grand-Pressigny and of course Barrou.

Tuesday is for tulips...keeping it simple

There is no denying the stunning appearance of the river of tulips at Chateau de Cheverny but these flowers bring a touch of joy wherever they are displayed, these  are from a friends garden in nearby Lesigny

A full day...setting out the stall for summer.

Yesterday morning we went over to Lesigny for a good socially distanced walk with friends  Karen and Roger before setting up the courtyard in the afternoon for summer by fitting out the sail and lighting effects for us to enjoy our dinner alfresco.

Pushing the boundaries...

On Wednesday we went over to Le Grand-Pressigny for a change for our daily walk. It is one of  the few places we are allowed to visit within our 10k limit.

We did a small part of the new cycle track which is looking good.

Vendredi à vélo - family fun on a bicycle run.

Wonder if there can be a return to families being able to take advantage of the cycle hire at the nearby Haute-Touche zoopark in 2021? Let's hope so.🤞

Loving the light...

Loved the way the light changed our view of the landscape as we took our walk up behind the village on Tuesday morning. This is the view over La Ricendelière as we headed back.

Our Sunday stroll...and changeable weather.

Yesterday's walk around Barrou was accompanied with an umbrella in hand as it was not the best day weather-wise. It proved not to be needed but the afternoon didn't really cheer up much.
The last few days have been so changeable - judge for yourself - this was taken on the same walk on Saturday afternoon!
