Jardin du Tripot another pleasant surprise...too much Honfleur?
Above image courtesy of Normandy Tourism
Hope I am not boring you with all these posts on Honfleur but it has so much to offer and if you haven't been I would encourage you to do so. Jardin du Tripot is an inviting urban garden space right in the heart of the historic centre of Honfleur. The garden seamlessly blends elements of history and culture with a delightful walk through a picturesque setting that embodies a sense of calm and reflection.
Artist Annick Leroy was commissioned to contribute a remarkable fresco made of mosaic tiles, which pays homage to the rich heritage of the local trade of the tanners and dyers that once thrived in this area. She is also responsible for the four geese and boy under the umbrella which are water features.
This relatively new garden area is somewhat tucked away behind several buildings, creating a peaceful link between three different streets and actually proved slightly difficult to find with some local residents even appearing to be unaware of its existence!
It's definitely worth seeking out and would be a lovely space in summertime to escape from the many tourists who head for this delightful area.

Le Jardin Retrouvé in Honfleur
If you take a leisurely stroll along the charming Boulevard Charles V in Honfleur you will come across a delightful public garden that was established in 1996 by the then mayor as an 'English style' garden on former parkland. Now called 'Le Jardin Retrouvé' the garden features a layout inspired by English landscaping traditions, characterized by its meandering paths, lush greenery, and abundant floral arrangements that contribute to its appeal.
As you wander deeper into the garden, you'll discover quaint benches nestled among the flowers, offering spots for quiet contemplation or a peaceful read. The gentle sound of a nearby fountain adds to the soothing atmosphere, inviting visitors to pause and soak in the tranquility.
If you continue past the former lighthouse you will eventually come to another public garden 'Le Jardin des Personnalités' that we did not get to as we went on the town's museum trail.

Honfleur...more than just a harbour
As you venture away from the stunning picturesque harbour at Honfleur, you will discover yourself navigating through a maze of narrow, charming cobbled streets. These delightful paths are lined with an array of galleries showcasing beautiful art and fine old half-timbered houses that exude historical character and charm. As you stroll along, you will encounter numerous inviting restaurants, each one beckoning you to pause your exploration and indulge in a drink or a meal.

Mon banc dominical / My Sunday Bench...outside our Honfleur 'local'
This bench sits in front of the little bar / restaurant we used for a nightcap before heading back to our hotel while staying in Honfleur, probably the nearest thing we found to a 'pub' while there.

Last Saturday on the narrow streets of Mont Saint-Michel...
Mont-Saint-Michel's narrow streets and alleyways are mainly concentrated around its main thoroughfare, Grande Rue. The streets, alleys and paths lead visitors through this historic site on a continuous upward climb.
All paths lead up to the abbey which sits on top of the 'Mont'.
