Ronda is split into two halves by the El Tajo gorge and the Peunte Nuevo bridge. The northern side of the town has the 'modern' part with the bullring plus the town’s shopping and its many tapas bars, bodegas, cafes and restaurants.
On the southern side of the gorge is the old town 'La Ciudad' with cobblestone streets and whitewashed houses. There are also a number of grand Renaissance mansions and buildings of historical interest.
