Yesterday's walk amongst the art...

Yesterday we headed over to the annual L'Art &Lard Festival' at Le Petit-Pressigny which is always a good walk and introduction to art and artists over a number of disciplines .

Each artist is allocated a space which can be anywhere from a stall in the church to a spot in a house or garden or one of the stalls in the tent village,

The musical entertainment was provided this year by the 'Funky Groove Parade'

The 'art' as usuai took many forms...

The local English community provide a tearoom where you can take your tea while sampling a piece of the delicious homemade cakes on offer.

This year they played tribute to a friend and co-founder of the tearoom who sadly passed away this year.

Sunday's brocante and afternoon art...

 

Yesterday morning along with friends Angela and Dennis we took in the brocante at Ouzilly over in the Vienne where we were were met with the usual mix of intriguing items along with the usual 'stuff'

Admired these two 'Brits' a Triumph and a Morgan which were parked next to my car.

The afternoon had us over at 'Le festival L’Art et Lard' in Le Petit-Pressigny. 

It's fun to walk around the village properties and take in the 'art'.

Music for the afternoon,which was like a summer's day, was provided by friends 'Celtiqua' - it was lovely hearing the sound carrying as we strolled through the diverse art expositions.

The 12th edition of L’Art & Lard at the Petit Pressigny

Around 80 exhibitors / artists to be discovered throughout the houses of the village, artisans also displaying their products behind the festive hall, stalls at the Place de l'Eglise, artists' ‘school’ behind the church. Music from ‘Celtiqua’ on the Saturday. 'English tearoom' on the Sunday.

Art & Lard 2018

Arriving at this year's Art & Lard festival in Le Petit-Pressigny we were happy to see that the rain had held off and the sun was making a breakthrough. 

As ever it wasn't long before we were met by some fine exhibits and I wouldn't be sticking my neck out here to say that this pair were among my favourites.

As we have said on previous visits it is always interesting to get behind some of the doors of the gardens and houses that are hosting exhibitions.

The stairs in the background led us up into a small attic that held an interesting mix of products from Vietnam courtesy of 'Vietnam in Paris' all the way from the capital.

We liked these gargoyle heads.

This giant loaf was been sold by the kilo.

This year had a small medieval village which was obviously going on for some time as the knight-shift staff had arrived.

Lest you forget!

We had a lovely day yesterday for the annual 'L'art & Lard' festival in Le Petit-Pressigny. This year we decided to go on the first day as the weather forecast for the Sunday wasn't good plus our friends in 'Celtiqua' were providing a musical set for part of the afternoon.

What this meant however was that we missed the 'English tearoom' and the 'Commercants de bouche' which were only here on the Sunday.

The art on display was, as usual, very interesting!

Yesterday's event did include the Artisan 'village' which had a familiar feel to it with many  returning to show of their undoubted talents.

As we have said in the past one of the highlights is the way some of the artist's work is displayed in gardens,barns and caves throughout the village.

This fellow is a former mayor of La Roche Posay - as the ticket tells us.

In a great bit of recycling the baskets above are made from the pages of old magazines!

The lavoir of the village is somewhat comically set out as it may have been when it was used in the past,below isn't an art instillation, although it could be, it was just someone's washing - hope they don't mind!
