We visited the church at Saint-Avertin under unbelievably blue skies at the end of October. In the view above you can see the 12th century chapel on the left that had to wait until the 15th century to acquire the belltower. On the right is newer chancel and side chapels again from the 15th century.
They made a fine job of restoring the inside of the church during the 19th century...
...and today contains some fine pieces of artwork.
The chancel and side chapels are rib-vaulted and painted to good effect.
The nave has a vaulted ceiling.
She has pride of place in a small round window above the front door of the church.
