It's all about people...

 

We were delighted to be part of a joint celebration yesterday lunchtime, helping Cally and her friends Gerard and Liesje mark special dates along with a great group of friends. 

Cally had picked the venue, the Manoir de Pierre Levée which sits a few kilometres outside Tournon-Saint-Martin. It proved an inspired choice with great food in a very pleasant atmosphere.

Monday's walk and a lovely lunch.

 

Some pics. from yesterday's walk around Le Grand-Pressigny which ended with an excellent lunch laid on by Alison and Bob who, in spite of work-in-progress, accommodated all the walking group in their courtyard. It was a good gathering which even a heavy downpour could not put a dampener on! 

Sunday lunch at Crêperie - La Bigorne in Chauvigny.

 

Had lunch with friends yesterday at La Bigorne, the Crêperie up in the high part of  Chauvigny. Have always  enjoyed visiting this interesting town, especially its medieval centre and couldn't resist poppimg into the 12th century church as we have done on many previous visits/

La Voie Verte du Sud Touraine en fête - Official opening of the 'Green Way' of South Touraine

 

We went over to Le Grand-Pressigny yesterday for the Official opening of the new 'Green Way' of South Touraine.

'I Don't Know' provided the musical entertainment in the morning and were followed by the usual round of speeches by the local mayors and regional dignitaries  - what is the collective name for a gathering of mayors I wonder?

Sadly rain after lunchtime put a little dampener on the occasion but I am sure the organisers must have been happy with the turn out.

Had probably our last alfresco dinner of the season last night here at the Old Walnut Mill  to welcome neighbours who have only just managed to get over to their holiday home here in Barrou. After a lovely sunny day the temperature took a drop as the evening progressed but it did not affect the ambiance of the evening with good friends.

Vendredi à vélo - 'I've been all around the world'

 

When I first spotted this bicycle here in France I thought it would make a good subject for 'Vendredi à vélo',I liked the way it had been sprayed the one colour all over but on closer inspection realized it was in fact totally made from cane!

What a fabulous thing!

The owners had brought it over from the UK but I wonder if its origins were perhaps a bit further away?

This pic. from Miriam Kelsey on Pinterest might suggest it was originally from Bali!

South of the border...walking with friends

 

Invited with friends to walk over the border at Montebœuf (86) on Tuesday - perfect conditions,a good walk and followed by a fine repas provided by our hosts Chris and Sally in a lovely setting.

Wednesday for windows...secure in Chedigny.

Yesterday's short walk around Ferriere-Larcon

Some images from our good walk David organised around Ferrière-Larçon yesterday on a morning when the threatened rain stayed well away, fortunately.

We headed off along the interesting Rue des Caves before going into the countryside around the village.
