We progress

After a week of no progress due to the weather, work on our barn roof has moved on a pace.

Today, Monday should see the front re-tiled using the salvaged old tiles before commencing with new tiles on the rear..It is important to maintain as much of the original appearance and authenticity as possible - I would have actually liked to see  a new roof with some undulation built in but can understand the difficulty  in achieving this look!

  1. Jim, if you'd got the wood from B&Q, there wouldn't have been a problem with a wonky roof... you may pay more for timber in France... but you don't waste as much... the worst I've seen here was in the Bricomarché at Yzeures... there was one bit that would have done the Indian Hockey team for a set of three sticks!!

    1. I've been sold that piece of timber - never got out the store!

  2. Will the barn be a barn again (albeit with a new roof!), or do you have plans to make it into something else?

    1. It will one day be a gite - but need to work at earning the funds first - will be a project to keep us out of mischief !
