Pauline did her usual excellent job of finding an apartment for our three night stay in Granada. We had decided to again take an excursion away from our home base in Almeria and leave the car in the carpark, so headed off on Monday. The price of the bus tickets turned out to be cheaper than the parking rates in the city, plus we didn't have to have usual stressful half hour driving through a strange city trying to find our accommodation.
When we arrived we were told we were on the top floor (5) so I was sure noise would not be a problem. As we stepped out of the lift our mouths dropped, our apartment opened out onto a roof terrace and plunge pool (not that we needed it) with stunning views over the city and towards the Alhambra.
It was even more stunning on an evening!
We dropped off our bags and headed out to do our first bit of exploring of the city. We grabbed lunch in one of the many outdoor eating places and listened to our first real rain of the trip, since Scotland, bounce of the roof. Fortunately it didn't last long and we really couldn't complain. One of the things we have learned about cities is that their little tourist trains can give you a good introduction to them and as we are now officially old folk we do not feel that they are to be scorned. It was not Pauline's idea of fun however as she needed a punt up to get in and because of the cobbled streets felt that her bones had all been rattled out of placeWe passed under the wall of the Alhambra giving us a taste of what was to come.
We spotted a good place for lunch after our planned visit to the Alhambra on Wednesday.
