Breaking the sound of silence...

Last Saturday night along with friends, we went along to some live music at the 'Cafe de la Paix' in Descartes. The band were the 'Roaders' whom we had heard a couple of times before. They are three guys from Tours who play music from the years 1964 to 68 (not before, not after) with hits from the Beatles, the Troggs, the Rolling Stones, the Who and the Kinks among others.

Here is the drummer/singer doing his 'Keith Moon' bit.

Up until last June we used to have regular live music every Saturday night at  L'Union bar in Paulmy but with the owner retiring and a lot of upgrading required on the premises it looks as if it will not be reopening any time soon. This in spite of the efforts of friends Jim & Sandra who had offered to take it over if they had some assistance from the local commune - but this does not appear to be forthcoming  which is a a great shame as they would have been very good for Paulmy.

The proprietors of the  'Cafe de la Paix' seem to be keen to take up the mantel and have converted part of their building into a music venue 'Chez Seb' including a stage - so time will tell if it will become the new 'L'Union'
