One of the prime motivators for the new trams in Tours is the continued regeneration of its suburbs. We saw evidence of this on our recent visit when riding the tram south out of the city. We decided we would hop off for a coffee before deciding where we would have lunch.
As the tram pulled into the station in front of a very attractive looking mall 'L´Heure Tranquille' we decided it seemed like the place to find a cafe and jumped off.
We were pleasantly surprised as to just how tranquil it was...
It has a covered shopping mall with fifty shops and a food court surrounding a very relaxing fountain.
After the women had their shopping 'fix' we decided that it would be a very nice spot for lunch and chose to eat Italian...we are in France after all...at 'Il Restorante'. Very nice it was too - we were soon joined by the many office workers (we assumed) who worked nearby - it was obviously a popular choice.
As we stood waiting for our tram back into the city it was not difficult to see the investment such a project is bringing to the city...
...they are obviously on the right track.
Will have to go up and have a tram ride it looks great. Love the grass track! Col
